This is a selection of NME magazine front covers from the new special editions. Every cover has just one picture on the front keeping it simple. The cover with Laura Marling on the front has atleast 3 different colours but the title and the mug she is holding match, this is the same with the Biffy Clyro front cover and the blue guitar the front man is holding. Both covers keep to a maxium of 3 colours, black, white and the choosen colour for the indervidual artist. The fonts are also kept quite simple, using the same boldness and near enough the same size for the 'NME' title and the name of the artist. There is a mixture of gender on the covers but all ranging between the ages of 18-30. These magazines are the most mainstream music magazines available in the UK, and feature band interviews and features from many of the publicly unsociable genres, Rock, Punk, and Alternative. These magazines usually contain interviews with band members, exclusive photo shots from recordings of albums and music videos, and album reviews. This is what I imagine my magazine containing. To make my magazine more appealing to the target audience, I could include a poster, or a free gift such as a t-shirt. This has been proven to promote interest in a magazine; everybody has seen a child choose a magazine because of the free gift which comes with it. By fashioning the gift to suit my target audience, it could have a similar effect.
