This is a feature article from NME, talking about one of my favourite music artists, Lily Allen. The title of the article is one of the first things we see when we look at this page in a magazine. The font style is completely different from the NME front cover and contents page, which keeps to a simple and mature font. Although the font is different, the colours are kept to a bare minium and are the same as the front cover and contents page. Red, black and white. These are the colours of Lily Allen's top so this is probably why they have done this.
This article is from Spin Magazine. The first thing you notice when you look at this feature article is the main photo. It takes up all of the left hand page, which breaks up the article and also adds to Spin's simplistic and contemporary design. On the top right of the image the little caption tells the reader what brands the artist in the photo is wearing, and directs them to see "where to buy" these clothes. When reading the article you usually read the pull quote first, in this particular article the pull quote is presented in a concentric circle, which also references the singer Karen O because it is in the shape of the letter O. The use of the plain paper and white space is a prominent feature throughout Spin Magazine, it follows a modern design effect of not usin all the space avalible. The smaller photos in the middle of the article break up and complement the design. The spacing is also unique and makes them look like poloroid pictures because of their presentation and shape. The font on this particular article is quite small compared to a lot of magazines I have looked at but the black and white theme makes it not too over the top.
