The magazine I have chosen to fully analysis is NME. Every cover has just one picture on the front keeping it simple. There are usually at least 3 different colours which is red and white for the title and another different colour for every issue. The fonts are also kept quite simple, using the same boldness and near enough the same size for the 'NME' title and the name of the artist. There is a mixture of gender on the covers but all ranging between the ages of 18-30. These magazines are the most mainstream music magazines available in the UK, and feature band interviews and features from many of the publicly unsociable genres, Rock, Punk, and Alternative. These magazines usually contain interviews with band members, exclusive photo shots from recordings of albums and music videos, and album reviews. This is what I imagine my magazine containing. NME's contents page keeps the same throughout every issue. The colour scheme is red, white and black and again the font styles are kept simple, appealing to a more mature target audience. There are is usually one or two images on the contents page but both from the same gig, and also a small article to pull the reader in to read more. The bands featured range between male and female and old and new. For example Guns and Roses are from the late 70's early 80's and bands like Florence and the Machine and Friendly Fires whom are newer bands from 2009 and 2010, these bands are bands people of my generation would be currently listening to. Although the lead singer of Florence and the Machine is female, most of the bands featured are males, around the age range of 20-35. NME's target audience are males. There are many feature articles included in this magazine. The titles of the articles are usually different from the rest of the magazine style, to catch you eye, although you wouldn't find font with blood dripping from it, they are stylish and modern. Although the font is different, the colours are kept to a bare minimum, they reader can get lost in the colours and the font if there are too many different styles. The magazine promotes new music usually in the Indie and Electro genre. Other things the magazine promotes is alcohol such as Tuborg and Jack Daniels and clothing shops such as adidas, which is one of my favourite makes. The audience for NME on average would be ABC1, which is upper middle class, middle class and lower middle class. Statistics shows that 72% have broadband internet at home and 59% of readers agree that they like to keep up with the latest technology. This shows that readers have money to spend on luxerys, or come from well off families.
